Lyon on high alert: The Medrano circus will not open this Saturday
Following the Prefect’s announcements, the Medrano circus will not launch its season in Lyon this Saturday. All events under a marquee are indeed prohibited … at least for 15 days.

The announcement of the new restrictions by the Prefect of the Rhône this Friday morning cast a cold spell on the performances of the Medrano circus, which has just moved to Quai Perrache in the 2nd arrondissement. The end of the circus in Lyon… even before its first lap was confirmed by the Prefecture this Friday afternoon.
Following the national directive, no demonstration under a marquee for towns on maximum alert. A disappointment for the director Raoul Gibault, who was still hoping around noon. “Our structure is under a marquee, that’s true, but it’s a show! We therefore logically enter the category of cinemas or theaters and therefore we should be able to play, while being limited to 1,000 seats. The decision was taken without thinking about our case. In addition, our structure is very airy and we obviously respect all the standards of distancing ”.
